The short answer

Why does dating feel like hard mode, even when you're doing everything right?

Because you're playing a 1x game in a 4x world. Your dating results come from four multipliers: Product (you), Market (where you play), Marketing (how women find you) and Brotherhood (the men around you).

They multiply, so one weak area drags everything else down. Score yourself from 1 to 10 on each, find the lowest, and spend the next 30 days fixing that one.

You're playing a 1x game in a 4x world

You're doing everything right. You train. Your career is moving. You've worked on your social skills and you can get dates. And dating still feels like you're grinding uphill while a few other guys are cruising downhill.

So you do what every driven guy does. More gym. More game. A better wardrobe. More approaches. And it barely moves the needle.

That's not a willpower problem. It's an infrastructure problem. You're playing a 1x game in a 4x world, and no amount of effort fixes a bad setup. Leverage does.

Quick note on who this is for: guys who can already get dates but know they're working way harder than they should be. If you still freeze before you approach, start with the basics first. This is the next level.

The 4X Leverage Playbook

There are four multipliers: Product, Market, Marketing and Brotherhood. And I mean multipliers. They don't add up. They multiply.

Rate yourself a 2 on each and you get 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 = 16. Drop just one of them to a 1 and you're at 8. Half your results, gone, because of one weak spot. Let one hit zero and the whole thing collapses.

That's why a guy with great fundamentals in a big city can still feel invisible. It's why Instagram ads flop when there's no social proof behind them. And it's why the guys who line up all four seem to move at a speed that makes no sense from the outside.

Multiplier 1: Product (you)

Fitness, style, income, confidence. All important. All table stakes. They get you into the game. They don't make you stand out.

And here's the trap I see all the time: product procrastination. Waiting until you're shredded, rich and perfectly dressed before you put yourself out there. That day never comes.

Two things actually set you apart.

A social circle that hosts

When you and a few aligned guys host events, you're no longer offering a one-on-one date with a stranger. You're offering an experience. Good events give you social proof, introductions and a better ratio. Women relax, there's a little competition in the room, and you get to select instead of chase.

Your stick

Your stick is not some gimmick. It's a visible, attractive craft that creates interactions for you: photography, DJing, tarot, social dance, golf, music, cooking, throwing great parties. It has to be something you actually enjoy, or you'll drop it in a month.

One of my guys, Ken, played piano. He became "the piano guy." That one detail made him memorable, because specific beats generic every single time.

Multiplier 2: Market (where you play)

Your results aren't only about your worth. They're about fit. A good man in a bad market can feel invisible. An average man in a strong market can thrive. You can't sell ice cream in Siberia, no matter how good your marketing is.

When I size up a market, I look at:

  • Population: how big the pool actually is

  • Ratio: how many women there are for every man

  • Saturation: how many guys like you are chasing the same women

  • Culture: how masculine and feminine polarity plays out there

  • Cost of living and stress: how much daily life gets in the way

  • Wingmen: who's there to build with

Before you roll your eyes, listen. I'm not telling you to sell everything and move abroad. Test a market. Spend real time in another city. Or change your micro-market: the neighborhood, the venues and the activities where you spend your time.

I've lived this. I built strong social circles in LA and New York. Then I started spending time in Kyiv in 2018 and dating got noticeably easier. Lower cost of living, and being an American there was a novelty. Same guy. Different market.

Multiplier 3: Marketing (how women find you)

Marketing is how women discover you and decide you're safe and interesting. Most guys rely on the two weakest channels. Dating apps are a bad deal: terrible ratios, shallow sorting and brutal competition on photos alone. Day game works, and I love it for building inner game, but it's labor-intensive and the results are all over the place.

The channel I recommend is Instagram, especially ads, done right:

  1. Build a clean, real profile that works as a landing page. Your lifestyle, your friends, your stick, the events you host, your standards.

  2. Write an ad with intrigue, context and value. Think an invitation to a social event, or a "new in town, come join" group.

  3. Target by age range, location, language and interests.

  4. Filter leads against your standards.

  5. Text with structure: flirt, logistics, a plan. Not endless chatting.

Your organic content is marketing too. Stories from your events, photos of your stick, clips from good nights out. It builds social proof and a little FOMO, and it compounds. Events create content. Content makes your ads convert. Ads bring women in. Women bring their friends.

Multiplier 4: Brotherhood (the missing multiplier)

I'm going to keep saying this until it's annoying: dating solo creates scarcity. Scarcity makes you overinvest, chase, put up with bad treatment and eventually burn out.

Brotherhood isn't just having friends. It's aligned men on the same mission, playing the long game and building systems together. And it multiplies everything else:

  • Product: one guy hosts, one connects, one shoots photos, one DJs, one runs the ads. Together you're a machine no single guy can compete with.

  • Market: a crew carries more status than one man on his own.

  • Marketing: content and introductions multiply across everyone's accounts, and your events look legit.

  • Accountability: your guys won't let you obsess over one woman or sit at home swiping.

Real results bring real validation. Real validation builds calm confidence. Calm confidence creates more wins. That's the missing multiplier.

How Ken stopped playing on hard mode

Ken's story is a perfect example of what I mean. Late 20s, living in San Francisco. Swiping constantly, barely matching, getting ghosted, conversations dying, the occasional mediocre date. He tried day game and it worked, but it ate his time and energy, and that's hard to keep up when your career needs your focus.

In 4X terms: decent product, poor market, weak marketing.

So he stopped trying harder and changed the setup. He moved to a different part of California. Piano became his stick. He built a social circle around events. And he used Instagram to get seen.

Now he's got abundance with women in their early to mid 20s, a real social life and momentum. He didn't become a different person. He changed his strategy. He even packaged it up as his "3X Leverage Playbook." I added the fourth multiplier: brotherhood.

Your 30-day plan

Don't try to fix everything at once. Find the bottleneck.

  1. Score yourself from 1 to 10 on Product, Market, Marketing and Brotherhood. Be brutally honest.

  2. Circle the lowest number. That's what's actually holding you back.

  3. Pick the 30-day project for it below, and start this week.

  • Product: commit to one differentiator, a stick or a social circle that hosts.

  • Market: research three other markets and plan a test trip, or change your micro-market.

  • Marketing: rebuild your Instagram as a landing page and run one simple ad.

  • Brotherhood: find a crew of aligned men, or start one.

Stop playing on hard mode

You don't need to become someone else. You need to recreate the conditions that produce confident, socially connected men. Stop trying to win a rigged game on hard mode, and build leverage on all four multipliers.

If you want to do this with accountability and a brotherhood already built in, that's what my Inner Confidence Community is for.
