The Gap Between Winners and Losers (It's Smaller Than You Think)
By the time you're lying on your deathbed, you aren't going to be given a scoreboard that flashes and states that you won. So how can you tell the difference between winning and losing in life?
Winning and losing is definitely an interesting concept, especially when you have to consider winning and losing in life. By the time that you’re lying on your deathbed, awaiting the Reaper’s touch, you aren’t going to be given a scoreboard that flashes and states that you won! You won’t receive a string of tickets that you can cash later, and people are not going to cheer for your victory. So, with this in mind, how can you tell the difference between winning and losing in life? Additionally, how can you turn your losses into potential wins once you know this difference?
Life is a Broad Subject
The reason why it is hard to tell if you are winning or losing in life is because life is a very, very broad subject to consider in this fashion. Therefore, you need to break up this massive concept into very small parts. With smaller challenges to weigh, you can easily determine and assess how well you are doing.
Perhaps you are tired but you need to shave before heading to work. Your beard looks scruffy and untidy when you don’t shave; you basically look like a piece of shit. Therefore, even though your body and your mind is telling you to just blow off the shave, you can acquire a potential win by reaching through the adversity and taking the advantages of the accomplishment.
Nobody loses at life all at once. It happens in small surrenders: one snoozed alarm, one skipped shave, one day at a time.
Don’t Let Feelings Dictate Your Life
Every day you are certainly going to face heaps of small challenges, and some of them are going to be so miniscule that you might not even notice them. The first challenge that you probably always face is waking up to your alarm. When you go to sleep, you probably set your alarm at a good time that will give you enough freedom to slowly and peacefully go about your morning. However, as the alarm blasts in the morning, hitting snooze five or six times sounds like a much better option. Winning in life means following your plans and what you want to do, regardless of how you feel at the present moment.
When that alarm goes off, get your lazy ass out of bed and put your nose to the fucking grindstone. Only at this point are you truly a winner, as losers will continue rolling over in their sleep trying to bring a little more joy in their life.
Motivation was never the requirement. It was always just the excuse.
Winners Get Shit Done Regardless of Emotion
That’s another stark difference between winners and losers that you need to understand in order to be a winner. Losers always seem to be missing something, and often they feel like they are missing an emotional or mental side to their life. They are often too tired, too sad, too busy, or just too fucked up in the head to get shit done. Although winners are definitely not emotionally indestructible, they still focus on the things they need to do and they go out and do it, and they deal with their emotions later when they’re in a more positive mindset.
As you try to be a winner, keep in mind that it comes down to those small things that you do on a day-to-day basis. Millions of tiny wins will surely transmit into a general sense of winning as you conduct your life. Additionally, the more that you understand the feelings around winning and your new lifestyle, you’ll discover that losing is just not an option.
Where Are You Losing Right Now?
Spend some time thinking about all of the little challenges you have throughout your day. How do you think you fare? Are you a winner or a loser by the time you go to sleep?
Another way to appreciate winning throughout your day is to consider the importance of losing. Why do you want to win? Is it alright with you to just lose every once in a while?
